Regional Update March 9, 2018

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Wanted to provide everyone an update regarding several events and issues important to the region:

  • Member Engagement Training originally scheduled for March 3rd has been rescheduled to Saturday March 17th (Yes, we know its St Patty’s Day, but its early in the day )  to sign up for this training follow this link: Click here for Training

  • PEF-AFT-Member-Engagement-Training-Flyer 3.17.18-page-001For a copy of flyer to post go here: PEF-AFT-Member-Engagement-Training-Flyer 3.17.18

  • The Region 8 PAC Legislative Breakfast is Tuesday March 27th at 8:00 AM to 10:00AM at the Albany Room of the Empire State Plaza. If you would like to attend, please notify Andrea Coton ( or 518-785-1900 x228) before March 15th.

  • April Leadership Conference is now full. Thanks to all those who have signed up. It should be a very educational and motivational event and I look forward to seeing you all there.

  • We are still asking all members to participate in our Political Action on the Governor’s Proposed Budget. There are many egregious proposals in the budget including another attempt to hire 300 Special Expertise positions within the ITS Agency. These positions would allow management to circumvent Civil Service law and hire many of the state’s current consultants directly into upper level (Grades 23, 25, 27 and 29)  positions within the agency, without examination and without following the same process that existing state employees must follow for promotion. To take action to prevent the implementation of this and many other portions of the Governor’s proposed budget that are harmful to our active and or retired members, please follow this link:

Thanks Very Much,
