Council Leaders, Stewards, Volunteers;
World Make a Difference Day is October 28, 2017 and we need you!
Make a Difference Day is a Day of Volunteerism and the Region 8 Charitable Giving Committee is encouraging all of our members to get out there and donate!
Donate your time to a worthy cause to raise money, to demonstrate PEF members charitable nature and to give back to your fellow citizens.
Are you and/or any of your fellow members planning to participate in any volunteer activities on that date?
If so, we’d like to know about it!
Region 8 is sponsoring a contest to encourage our fellow members to go out and show our fellow community members how much we give back to the community and the charities we support. All it takes to participate is a desire to do something good!
We are asking that each member who signs up to participate in a charitable activity signs up on our Eventbrite site here:
Divisions are encouraged to create charitable giving teams. If you would like team recognition please create a team name in the Eventbrite application. (It is not necessary to be a part of a team to participate.)
Each member who signs up on the site should provide us with details regarding what charitable activities they are committed to participating in and will then be entered into a random drawing for a $50 gift card. The largest single donor (monetary and/or time) will win a prize and the largest team (by percentage of their division) will win a luncheon with all of their team members.
All we ask is that you keep a list of the people that are with you, the organization where you volunteered and take a photo of you and your group, if you have a group. Show your commitment on Saturday, October 28, 2017.
If you know what charity you want to help we understand, but if you aren’t sure, please consider joining us, the Region 8 Charitable Giving Committee when we volunteer to assist the Habitat for Humanities to raise money and reorganize their Restore.
Details of that endeavor follow:
In cooperation with Habitat for Humanity, the Restore in Albany and The Schenectady Chapter of Habitat for Humanity, Region 8 is looking for its members to volunteer to help out at the Restore or help out providing lunches for the crews that are at the construction sites.
For the members interested in volunteering at the Restore, there will be 2 shifts available. There will be a morning and afternoon shift. Some will be working inside while some may work outside as the Restore is also looking for several people to help outside on a gardening project. To volunteer for The Restore project, please send an email to myself, (Mblue@pef.org) or to Sheryl Sperry, Chair of the Charitable Giving Committee (firstname.lastname@example.org) for further information.
Region 8 will also be taking donations for Habitat for Humanity. Two items that the Restore is requesting are plastic bags and cleaning rags.
Region 8 will need a couple of volunteers to assist collecting those items.
